Action Figures

Yah. So I have the Batman and The Boy Wonder in my cubicle.

I also have Firiona Vie from EverQuest, both a pewter replica and plastic.

At the risk of attracting a tsunami of nerd rage, to be honest, I have never seen the appeal of action figures. I love video games to a sometimes worrying degree, the attraction of owning a lump of plastic in the shape of Tifa, has never appealed. Still, different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Indeed.

The way I look at it, most peoples houses contain ornaments of some description whether they be ethnic styled wooden carved animals or figurines or whatever, that might have been picked up as holiday souvenirs or even just locally. For us, just because they happen to be vinyl figures of game or anime characters the reasoning behind them is the same (most of mine have been bought on various trips to Japan) and in some ways they may carry more personal meaning since they happen to symbolise both a memorable trip and our hobbies and interests, not just something to fill a bit of shelf space.
The worst mistake anyone can make is being afraid to make one.

Well, neither me nor my wife like ornaments, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Our house is a Spartan minimalist paradise.

I approve of this. I have a few things but to be honest I'd rather not have them. Same goes for artwork on the walls... I'm just too bloody fickle :)

Action Figures

Postby AndyKurosaki » July 14th, 2010, 7:17 pm

I've no doubt when I get moved in with Sarah, she will look at my small collection of figures and wonder why I bother. But then she has a room filled with Eeyores, that I have bought her, so we both collect stuff.

It's hard to say why I like action figures, but when I'm at my PC, and see my Ryu, Marcus Fenix, Issac Clarke, Master Chief and T1000, it makes me smile :-)

Think I might get rid of my stuff this week. I don't have a lot at all but the place I'm moving into it will just look a bit naff.

Revlotech Patlabour Ingram
BSHIT SHIKITO (I'll probably hold onto this).
ALIENS Alien, think its just some McFarlane thing from Forbidden Planet
Ninja Turtle Leonardo
Some R2D2 cast from ages ago.

Those Berties are amazing and make me jealous. I asked you on Twitter where you got them from but I don't think you replied?

I have some limited edition Warner Bros. ceri-cells that I bought years ago. They hardly fit in this thread but I'll post them over the weekend.

Sorry Xib, blame it on new phoneitis. I got them from here http://www.richardgoodallgallery.com/rg ... m-740.html They aren't the cheapest from there, but everywhere else has sold out of them now. I am going to order the medic over weekend as I have been paid. I absolutely love them. The paint and detail on them is amazing.

Okay, I am considering getting these but they are pricey... But it's Electra woman & Dyna Girl!

Bit disapointed my Playarts Bayonetta figure keeps getting delayed, happened 6 times now, swear it's never going to get processed.

Oh well, ordered a Kratos from God Of War figure from Amazon :-)

Can i say, i like the idea's of collecting models and things, because it would remind you of the awesomeness of the thing it represents, but what i dont get, is the idea of keeping it in original packaging. its supposed to be out and admired, not kept in some plasticy crap.

While I agree in most cases sometimes the box is part of the reasons for the purchase too. The Trigun figure in my picture has a great box and I know it would only get trashed if i seperated the two so i keep it in the box
